This year witnesses a great success for summer social practice in our school. The outstanding performance of students and teachers won them many awards: 2 national awards of Excellent Summer Social Practice Team of National College and University Student Volunteers in “Serving the Rural Areas in three Aspects” Program and Excellent Team Case of “A Thousand Projects in A Thousand Schools”; 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 1 third prize of 2019 “Zhixing Cup” Shanghai University Student Social Practice Program Competition; and 1 of the “Top Ten Outstanding Programs” in 2019 “Zhixing Cup” Yangtze River Delta Green Development Demonstration District University Student Social Practice Program Competition. 3 teachers of Xia Xiaohua, Xu Shuihua and Liu Zhenhua have won titles of Excellent Tutor in Shanghai University Student Summer Social Practice, a student named Xu Jiaying has got the title of Outstanding Individual in Shanghai University Student Summer Social Practice, and the school has won the Best Organizer Award in 2019 USST Student Summer Social Practice.
On December 1, the award-winning team of our school was invited to attend the 2019 Shanghai College and University Social Practice Summary and Award Ceremony. Before the ceremony, the first prize winners of our school recounted the program in detail and shared the experience with leaders from the city's Communist Youth League and Qingpu District, students, and teachers on the site.
Recently, our university held the “2019 USST Student Summer Social Practice Summary & Achievement Sharing Meeting”. Representatives of the award-winning team and tutors were invited to the meeting to introduce their programs and share achievements and personal experience. Xia Xiaohua, deputy secretary of the Party General Branch of the school and an excellent tutor of Shanghai university student summer social practice, told vivid stories to explain how to build and improve a practice platform and use it to educate people from three aspects of school support, teacher guiding, and results turned into practice. Then both Yin Jieru, on behalf of the team winning the award of Excellent Summer Social Practice Team of National College and University Student Volunteers in “Serving the Rural Areas in three Aspects” Program, and Jin Xiaoya, on behalf of the team winning the first prize of “Zhixing Cup” Shanghai University Student Social Practice Program Competition, introduced their teams in terms of the preparation, process, and results of their research.
In the future, the school will continue to adopt the philosophy of “meeting the social demand, highlighting features of majors, and promoting personal growth”. The school will highlight features of its majors, manage educational practice resources better, expand the platform of “Three All-around Education” with social practice, try to develop various platforms to provide the conditions and protection for students’ social practice and encourage students to carry out all kinds and forms of meaningful social activities. Students of School of Marxism will, therefore, sacrifice for the good of the group and dedicate their youth to the motherland, acquiring great skills and knowledge when serving the grassroots, the society and the common people.
