Focus on Frontier Issues in Ideological and Political Education,Develop Insight into Ideological and Political Education Theories -- 20th Social Sciences and Humanities Book Club Event: Marxist Classic Reading Assisted by A Top Teacher

On the morning of May 28th, our school invited Professor Lu Lan to present a lecture entitled “Focus on Frontier Issues in Ideological and Political Education, Develop Insight into Ideological and Political Education Theories” in Fourth Classroom Building. Lu is an academic leader of ideological and political education in School of Marxism of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Due to the epidemic, the lecture was held both online and offline. Peng Zongxiang, Secretary of the CPC branch of the school, hosted the lecture. The school’s counsellor and some of its teachers attended the lecture. A total of over 50 students and teachers from our school and the other schools participated in the event.

At first, Lu Lan pointed out that the lack and absence of theories had always been a serious obstacle for improving the effectiveness of ideological and political education. The Lu talked about “a heated discussion on old news and calm thinking on hot issues ”, reform, research methods, and frontier issues of ideological and political education. At last, Lu asked an intriguing question as to where modernity would go.

In the question-and-answer session, Lu Lan patiently answered all the questions of students such as: Was it possible for “smart ideological and political education”? Would it make an impact on traditional ideological and political education? Was social acceleration just new wine in old bottles or a sign of the times? The lecture made students better understand the frontier issues of ideological and political education. It also broadened their horizons and would greatly help them choose a topic for the essay and research into issues seriously in the future.
