With the addition of 38 new youthful students, the School of Marxism starts a new term in the golden autumn season. On the afternoon of September 3, the school held an opening ceremony for postgraduate students 2019 in the multifunctionalroom 301. The solemn national anthem heralded the start of the opening ceremony. First, on behalf of the School, Dean Jin Yaomei extended a warm welcome to new students. She introduced the history of the university, the policy of the university running, and teachers and disciplines of the school. She said the bright, young students brought fresh blood into the family of the School of Marxism. As the future of the homeland and the hope of the nation, the new students should keep the historic mission in mind, live up to the ideals, and broaden the knowledge and skills. Students should work hard to study Marxist classics, learn more about social conditions, try to approach, talk with, and pay tribute to Marx, apply Marxism in practice to guide the spirit and actions of the new era, and work tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Then, Professor Liu Ke delivered a speech on behalf of tutors. She encouraged freshmen to enrich the next three postgraduate years with great research enthusiasm, careful planning, and the positive attitude. They should cultivate their personalities with academic study, devote themselves to the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, and become builders and successors of the socialist cause. Later, Li Ying the freshman representative said they would adopt the university’s motto, undertake a serious study of the Marxism, open up new horizons and build great character in practice, and try to accomplish the Party’s historic mission when learning and living in the future. Then, freshmen were warmly welcomed by Wangbo, an ideological and political education major in the class of 2021, on behalf of students in the second and third year. He hoped newcomers would work together to build the School of Marxism with spirit and courage and fight hard to pursue the truth in their youth.
Finally, Wu Jianyong shared his experience in studying Marxism with new students. He said Marxism is scientific truth having been tested and proven in practice, a powerful ideological weapon to understand the world, know the rules, pursue the truth, and transform the world. Wu also urged postgraduates studying Marxism to seize golden development opportunities, be committed to the ideal, find their places in life, and map out their own paths. Once in the School of Marxism, they should believe in, learn, study, and discuss Marxism. They should study the Marxist classics frequentlyand systematically, understand the true essence of Marxism, and really learn, understand, believe and use Marxism to become models for other young students studying Marxism. They also should try to practice dialectical thought, use Marxism to analyze and solve problems, and practice and spread Marxism.
We hope new students will fall in love with USST and the School of Marxism and dedicate themselves to the Party’s historic mission. We believe students in the class of 2022 will hold together in the quest for a better tomorrow of the university and the school, with freshness, youth and passion.
